Gareth Tyler on why the Acquablend bottle has changed his life.

A chance meeting recently at the local gym with Tony Herbert, the man behind the Acquablend fruit infusion water bottle, has not only given Tyler a new sponsor, but changed the way he now goes about his preparations before gigs.

The 29 year-old drummer from Hemel Hempstead, a performer at the 2012 Paralympics Opening ceremony, is preparing for a gruelling month-long UK and European tour with post-punk band The Dash. The band is renowned for the intensity and energy of their shows, but Tyler is relying on his Acquablend bottle to keep him properly refuelled: “Acquablend gives me the routine. Sometimes when you are so busy you need the routine. Before I walk out the door I know I have to cut some fruit make up my bottle and I can refill it throughout the day.”

The other day I forgot my Acquablend bottle and I had a gig that night. I had a massive headache at the end of it and realised I was really dehydrated.

As a key member of the band, Tyler’s drumming role not only requires great discipline in keeping the beat, but places a huge drain on his energy levels.“The other day I forgot my Acquablend bottle and I had a gig that night. I had a massive headache at the end of it and realised I was really dehydrated. I went home and drank a litre of water, straight! Before the show you have got to be hydrated otherwise you are physically unable to perform the way you should.”

“I cannot imagine having a working day without it because it so easily accessible, I’m getting all the fruits I should be daily and it gives me the excuse to fill it up with water. It used to be so tempting to go into a shop and buy a can of coke. Now that I have the Acquablend bottle with me, I just fill it up with water. It has changed the way I think and drink”

He added: “I wanted a certain kind of sponsor, and I knew I didn’t want energy drink because it is full of sugar and makes you feel rubbish. Following my meeting with Tony, the Acquablend bottle has become an incredibly important part of my lifestyle.”

I am very determined and know where I want my career to go. I really appreciate Acquablend’s sponsorship and am happy to promote the positive effect using their bottle has on people’s lives.

Through this relationship with Acquablend, Tyler is committed to educating parents and young children around healthy choices and will be part of future campaigns to address the challenges of childhood obesity. “I plan to go into schools with my drum kit and Acquablend bottle to try and inspire young people, rather than lecture them about their healthy choices. The great thing is that the product is so easy to use and enables children to drink healthily and eat healthily. They also get the fruits that they need giving them natural energy rather than fake energy from too much sugar,” he asserts, “I also want to show kids that it quite cool to be healthy. I want them to look up to me saying ‘he is really cool on the drums’. I also want kids to feel it’s cool to drink water. Hopefully, I’m inspirational to young people and they will follow suit.”

Gareth Tyler is sponsored by Acquablend on his UK and Europe tour with The Dash and Kitty, Daisy & Lewis.
