Mum-of-three hits all the right notes in run up to World Fitness event

Malika Faye is preparing to take a huge step on her fitness journey when she competes later this month in the prestigious WBFF Worlds 10th Anniversary event in Toronto, Canada.

The tenacious 32-year old mum-of-three has overcome challenging obstacles in her personal life including, battling weight problems, depression and relationship issues.

However last year, Malika pursued a demanding diet and fitness regime and spurred on by family and friends she entered her first competition and earned a top seven finish in the Fit Mum category at the Miami Pro European Championships.

The ambitious south Londoner didn’t stop there as she completed an exciting chapter in her fitness journey when she placed 2nd and earner her WBFF Pro Status in the Diva Fitness Model category at the prestigious WBFF Spring Spectacular at London’s Indigo 02 in May.

Malika commented: “It has been an amazing journey. I never envisaged that it would culminate in me becoming a WBFF Pro Fitness Model and competing on the WBFF World stage. It is a dream cone true and I’m really excited to be competing at the Worlds in Toronto. Although the preparations have been gruelling I’m confident that all the hard work will pay off.

As if raising three young children and holding down a full-time job wasn’t challenging enough, Malika somehow found time to perform as a backing singer on singer-songwriter Gabrielle’s 2014 UK tour. She also toured with Imagination and featured in a European show line-up which included Nile Rodgers and Chic, Sister Sledge and Kool & the Gang.

I have learned a lot from singing and performing in front of live audiences.  Thankfully, I am not scared of the stage which will hopefully give me the edge,” declared the Acquablend-sponsored athlete.

A huge part of finding that mental clarity has been through fitness. The positive energy it has given me and the feeling of accomplishment outweighed all the negative thoughts and feelings I was carrying. Competing is a huge challenge and a great achievement, but my fitness journey is about much more than the stage. I want to inspire and empower others with my journey from where I began to where I am now, mentally, physically and emotionally to show that as a mother of three, with hard work and determination, anything is possible.
